Hojicha is a Japanese variety of green tea. Unlike traditional green teas, Hojicha is roasted, imparting a nutty, smoky and slightly sweet taste to it. The lower notes and caramelized undertones from the roasting process make it an ideal drink for brewing into a latte with milk. Unlike Matcha, Hojicha has a very low caffeine content which is achieved by using lower parts of the tea plant that are naturally low caffeine and as a result of the high heat used during the roasting process.
